Cons, and a few pros, of Egypt’s Gaza plan

Pre October 2023, Arab states were mostly aligned with the US and other Western governments in maintaining the fantasy of steering Israel and the Palestine Authority towards a “two state solution”.
This piece from The Palestine Chronicle considers the pros and cons of Egypt’s recently unveiled plan for rebuilding Gaza after the genocide – a plan which seems to be based on the idea of returning to that failed scenario. It also, by excluding anyone connected with Hamas from any governing entity for Gaza, appears to be in line with the “de-Baathification” process imposed upon Iraq
“As we have learnt from history, ” writes Robert Inlakesh, “disqualifying the most competent professionals from working in their field simply based on past affiliations, can prove disastrous, often leading to administrations formed of unqualified and incompetent opportunists.”
