Israel’s Crimes Against Humanity
JVL Introduction
Another UN Report has been published about what is being done to Palestinians in the West Bank – by the Israeli government and by settlers. There are more horrific examples of the torture meted out by Israeli forces onto those it incarcerates. It is important that we keep reading about this and raising awareness. Israel denies again and again that it uses torture, including sexual torture even while Ben Gvir shows the media some aspects of how Palestinian prisoners are treated. He has, for example, openly shown people in constraint positions, on their knees, heads bowed to the floor with hands tied behind their backs and we can see ou social media how traumatised so many released prisoners are by their experiences. Many who have been in prison before have, this time, come out and said they are broken.
The Commission that produced this report also produced one on Hamas killings and torture so Israel’s allegations that its aim is to delegitimise the State of Israel have no basis in reality. Israel’s response is typically bombastic and shows only a refusal to address the allegations and instead to call for the Commission to be dissolved.
There is ever mounting evidence of war crimes from attacks, demolitions, displacement and torture but will accountability ever come and of it does will it be too late?
