BT’Selem: Israel aims to eliminate Palestinians’ from the West Bank

It is very clear that Israel is making life impossible for Palestinians in Gaza but the West Bank is also under threat as the  latest hard hitting report from Israeli Human Rights organisation BT’Selem shows. They say:

“The Elimination Project …looks at the current reality not as a collection of isolated incidents or specific harms, but as part of a comprehensive mechanism of elimination that works to dismantle the conditions for continued Palestinian existence in the West Bank, while deepening Jewish control and supremacy in an irreversible manner. As the Guardian article notes: the aim is to seek to “create a reality in which millions of Palestinians live in constant fear of Israeli military and civilian violence”. Settler violence has finally led to some action from the UK and other governments, but that is just one aspect: daily indignities and inconveniences are part of the picture that have gone on for decades.  Since October 7th there has been an unconscionable escalation and acceleration of things already in place for decades before.

The Israeli government is clearly following the blueprint created in 2017 by Smotrich, Israel’s Finance Minister. His plan set out three options for Palestinians: “Live under Jewish supremacy while relinquishing their national claims, leave the territory, or face violent suppression by the Israeli military if they resist”.
