Twisting the words of a Palestinian Christian is reprehensible

The Daily Telegraph asked Bethlehem pastor, Reverend Dr. Munther Isaac to comment on the decision by the Church of England to receive the Kairos II document and also to respond to the criticism from the Board of Deputies of British Jews about that decision. Shamefully the Daily Telegraph created a headline that completely distorted what was in Revd Isaac’s response in which he “clearly distinguished between those promoting Zionism and the many Jewish voices working for justice. In fact, I explicitly called on churches to listen to and amplify those Jewish voices. That distinction was not incidental—it was central to my response.”
All this was for nothing as the Telegraph headlined their piece with the falsehood that British Jews were being accused of complicity in Israel’s war crime. This is another example of the Establishment – not the Palestinians – conflating Jews and Zionists and he questions what the primary concerns of the Board of Deputies is.
We are pleased to share Revd Isaac’s reaction to this misinterpretation by the Telegraph along with his original response to that paper’s request.

Would Dr Munther Isaac take it to IPSO. I don’t buy the Telegraph so do not know if the story was prominent early on in the paper or not but an apology given prominent position would take months but might be worth trying for the publicity you could gain from the Telegraph’s dishonesty. They would be forced to admit it. It is being taken over by the Axel Springer Group as you may know. They are complete Schmucks and are complicit themselves by virtue their false reporting by what you said in what is happening in Gaza. Twisting words is second nature to them and I have no doubt the Board of Deputies and the hasbara mechanism was close by in support chivvying them along. Beware giving comment to any rightwing paper without checking it with an astute PR person who knows this subject. They will still try and twist it however whoever shapes a response. Otherwise, just campaign to never buy the Telegraph -ever or advertise in it.

Meanwhile, the Jewish Chronicle reaches a new low by publishing an article which questions Ed Miliband’s jewishness.
I’m afraid my experience of IPSO is that it bends over backwards NOT to do anything about misleading headlines.
