Zack Polanski has been interviewed by many legacy media outlets in the run up to the local, Scottish and Welsh elections; he has been harried, even his Jewish identity as well as antisemitic attacks against him sometimes dismissed, vile cartoons reminiscent of nothing so much as Der Sturmer have been published by newspapers claiming concern about antisemitism. You could not make this up – or perhaps they can. Politicians and others have also treated Polanski disgracefully, almost contemptuously.
This blogpost is appropriately furious and highlights the hypocrisy of some of those who are hostile to Polanski and the Green Party’s increased popularity as it has become a Party openly committed to progressive, left wing ideas. This morning he was asked on the BBC’s flagship “Today” programme how he would prevent being the next Jeremy Corbyn. You do not have to support the Greens to recognise that Polanski is being subject to the same unjust treatment that goes way beyond robust questioning. You also do not have to support the Greens to commend Polanski on the way he has handled the barely veiled attacks.

The co-ordinated hysteria directed against Polanski is in stark contrast to response to the acceptance of Reform’s donations from offshore billionaires, Labour complicity in Israel’s genocide, and the unwillingness to ever reference the activities of Labour Together and the influence of the Israeli lobby on British politics …. there is never any reference to the ownership and control of the media and the appointment of mainstream gatekeepers
