Police question a Holocaust survivor over Gaza protest

We are pleased to share this short video from Doubledown News that compromises mainly of interviews with Holocaust survivors and descendents of survivors when 87 year old Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos had to be interviewed at Charing Cross police station about the march for Gaza on January 18th. It is possible that he was alleged to have “broken through a police line”, which is clearly preposterous. Below that is an article written by Stephen Kapos for Al Jazeera, also published today.
The context for this repression is horrifying and now that Israel’s government – and that of the US – seem determined to end Palestinian presence in Gaza, our presence and the continuation of the movement for justice for Palestine, is more crucial than ever. Stephen made it clear that he will continue to participate in the marches and so will many hundreds of thousands more in the UK and millions across the world.

The voice of Stephen Kapos and other descendants of those who survived or perished in the Holocaust is loud and clear. The restrictions and aims to brand protest on Palestine and the genocide in Gaza must end. This government is blatantly complicit with this genocide, as is the US, from who Starmer takes his lead. The most terrifying and merciless onslaught on Palestinians, mainly women and children (nearly 300 in the last week) is being perpetrated using even more lethal ‘grass cutter ‘ bombs every single day with accelerating ferocity, while forcing Palestinians to continually move. There is no justification for the resuming this slaughter, especially as Israel broke ceasefire and signed agreement it never intended to keep. The genocide must be stopped now in this disgusting and unique collective depravity by Israel and its western allies.
