  • I cannot adequately express my disgust at the Labour Party’s total betrayal of its own founding principles. What can we expect from it when it is in government? Israel will be satisfied, once again confirmed in its approach to basic human rights; but then, that’s the whole point of this exercise, isn’t it? to cripple any reasonable chance of making any difference to Israel’s increasingly oppressive policies, and to ensure that a very British type of conservative politics remains the norm in the UK. When those who preach most loudly against anti-semitism are among its most notable practitioners we have good cause to be frightened – and by we I mean both in general everyone who believes in a democracy where freedom of opinionand speech is sacrosanct, and specifically Jews of a certain political persuasion who are now finding themselves increasingly defenceless against the suppression of their basic democratic freedoms because they are Jews and therefore an enemy to those who should always be their allies.
