JVL Introduction

Joe Todd co-hosts the Life of the Party Podcast and is a member of the Green Party.

He devotes a lot of his time to asking the questions that matter in British and wider politics: How can we be effective? How can we change the world?

He suggests below that direction the Green Party should now be moving in.

It’s a part of an ongoing reflective critique on his part. He has made significant contributions in two further articles.

This one, in April after the March 2026 conference had deferred discussing the Zionism is Racism motion argued why it was a mistake: that maximalist policy motions do not equal a socialist Green Party.

This, in October on the eve of the conference was more analytical, laying bare the ideological currents of the Green Party, attempting to bring “definition and specificity to the politics of the Green Party”.

You do not have to agree with Todd’s arguments but he is clearly one of the most interesting commentators on the Green Party today.
