Come and meet your Jewish neighbours

JVL Introduction

We repost David Rosenberg’s Morning Star article in which he compares the so-called Jewish community’s outrage against Jeremy Corbyn’s alleged antisemitism with its pusillanimous response to the genuine, open white-supremacist antisemitism of Donald Trump.

We also repost a letter from Jewish members of Islington North CLP which has just appeared in the Islington Tribune

  • Keir Starmer and Co are well aware of the survey conducted for the authors of Bad News For Labour last year in which respondents, on average, believed that a third of members (34%) had been reported (to the LP) for anti-semitism, and they are also well aware that the actual figure is 0.3%. And needless to say, they know EXACTLY why such a massive discrepency exits between the actuality and the public perception.

“All I would say is that, yes, it is an issue and it needs to be addressed, but I myself have never experienced anti-Semitism from a member of the Labour Party. Point two, though there is a big issue and it has to be addressed, I do not myself believe that Jeremy Corbyn is anti-Semitic. That is my honest view…… I’ve known him for the 22 years I’ve been in parliament. Even, actually, when I was a right-winger we got on pretty well. He was quite a personable individual.”

“He’s been very supportive of me and I’ve never detected so much as a whiff of anti-Semitism.”

John Bercow, former Speaker (being interviewed by Alastair Campbell)

And nor had any other Jewish MP of course!
