Things may be quieter in Gaza” even as Israel continues to violate the “ceasefire” agreement but things are happening. People are still there and living there involves ongoing hardship and heartbreak and trying to come to terms with all that you have lost, including your family members. We post this moving piece to help us at least try to imagine the reality of waiting to see if it is possible to recover the bodies of your loved ones from explosions over the past two years. There is only one excavator, the process if slow and the process is harrowing, often for the one survivor of a large family waiting to see if her family members’ bodies can be recovered and identified. This is not straightforward.
