Again, Israel Is Choosing Death

The headline is Haaretz’s, the story stomach-churning, as Israel works itself up into a collective frenzy about the events of 7th October.

However dreadful they were, cool and dispassionate heads are needed now. Israeli media and right-wing politicians are ensuring that the Israeli public has no possibility of reflection, as competition between media outlets mounts as to which can get the highest ratings for the most searing atrocity story.

In the process all Palestinians become Hamas, all are guilty, all are Nazis…

Rogel Alphel is clear:

“Israel is looking forward to war. The war covers up the fury and the protest over the hostages, who are being betrayed by their country overtly and criminally. It neutralizes the fury and protest against Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Like blind people, we are trailing behind a leader who is a malignant national disease that thinks only of himself, into a war that he has a personal interest in prolonging,”
