On Ben Gvir’s – and Israel’s genocidal incitement

The Lemkin Institute is one of the world’s leading organisations focused on genocide. It is named after Ralph Lemkin who was Jewish, from Poland who survived the Holocaust and who coined the term genocide.
We post below their full statement on the utterances of Ben-Gvir, Israel’s security Minister and so not a “fringe” politician. Now he is saying that Israel should kill 30-40 Palestinians a day, presumably so that Palestinians “get the message” that they are not wanted and Israel is committed to taking over all of Gaza and the West Bank. Expressions and intent towards Lebanese people are not so different.
This statement calls these utterances out as incitement to commit genocide. He is not the only one who argues that Palestinians are not a people and have no rights (not even the right to life): Here the Chief Rabbi of Israel makes just those points. It is shameful that Ben Gvir has so much credibility and so much power over Palestinians’ lives and over prisoners about whom he has been delighting in the fact that he has purposely made harsh conditions even worse.
The Institute’s statement also, rightly recognises the impunity with which Israel has been allowed to operate, the strong echoes of Nazi language and the failure of the international community to do more than utter words of condemnation. Serious action is beyond urgent.

I read an interesting comment inviting me to compare Ben-Gvir’s genocidal statements with those of Ratko Mladić: how do they compare in terms of severity and how does the treatment of each by the international community compare?
Ben Gvir is an odd guy that seems to self hate his Middle Eastern roots, especially when Ashkenazi hegemony was historically and present seen as superior. It seems to me his indoctrination into Kahanism shapes his ideology.
What a bunch of hateful people that cloak themselves in Judaism and its teachings. This is pure evil. Pity the men and women with such narrow views they reside in cages of hate and like winged birds cannot fly.
But I am comforted that there is resistance around the world. Solidarity of strangers and the power of love and unity is stronger than hate and disharmony.
