Billionaire death cult has its fingers round humanity’s throat
JVL Introduction
In this article George Monbiot reflects on what he calls the “biggest news of the century”. This is the accelerating danger of the collapse of the Amoc – the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current –due to a heating climate, which was the subject of this previous JVL post (see also linked articles below).
But here Monbiot tries to nail those most responsible for driving environmental desecration during the capitolocene: these are the rich, those suffering the delusions of “billionaire brain” who are willing to “sack the planet for a few more stones on their mountain of wealth.” Many of these, including Bill Gates, attach themselves to the climate change denying and future devaluing economics of William Nordhaus. Other economists recognise that the flipping of the AMOC would leave “scarcely an economy left to measure”. So, Monbiot asks, “why is this not all over the news?”

A catastrophic climate event is upon us. Here is why you’ve heard so little about it
Scientists say a crucial Atlantic system is more likely to collapse than previously thought. But the billionaire death cult that steers humanity’s destiny doesn’t do existential crises

“More from the Department of Energy: Automobile parts, ballpoint pens, curtains, dice, eyeglasses, fertilizer, golf balls, hearing aids, insect repellent, kayaks, luggage, mops, and nail polish”.
squeezed in between eyeglasses and golf balls you’d scarcely notice fertilizer. I am in a minority of one to post a comment on that. I’m often in a minority of one with my posts on the Times of Israel online Conversation

“jaw-dropping. just one single mention of FERTILISERS in the whole article…”
is this relevant to Mr Monbiot’s column? I think so.
