The JVL Council
The JVL Council was set up in 2022 as a forum for representatives of members, local JVL groups and JVL sub-committees. It acts as a consultative body for the JVL Executive Committee in between General Meetings. It currently consists of 23 members and meets online as and when necessary.
It elects its own Chair/Convenor and determines its own agenda, which has covered both internal issues (future development of JVL, potential change of name) and the wider political scene (should there be a new left party and if so, what role should JVL play in it).
The Council also enables activists to get involved in national working groups, developing policy recommendations on such issues as the detail of JVL involvement in the BDS movement and operates as sounding board for controversial matters where there is no consensus within the EC.
